Mountain Reflections

This past weekend, Anthony and I took a trip into the mountains to celebrate our third year anniversary. We first rode a train to Jeonju, standing the three hours (for half the price), and arrived at 3am; wandering the streets for about an hour, we finally found a yeogwan where we stayed. The woman who owned the hotel was very excitable (we might have been her first foriegner customers). She set up the bedding for us, and told us that we would sleep comfortably. The floor was heated, and felt more welcoming than our bed in the apartment in Suwon. The above picture is where we slept very soundly. In the morning we woke, and took a bus from Jeonju to a little mountain town called Jinan. The views from the bus window were amazing, our ears popped as our heads tilted to watch the mountains roll on by.
We met a Korean boy on the bus who had studied English in Australia. The hour trip was full of small talk, and window gazing.
When we arrived in Jinan we walked about at awe for such a new perspective of South Korea. The small town felt like home; its people were friendly, the atmosphere was quaint, and there weren't any neon lights. We had a small boy and his friend follow us around-- we were their afternoon entertainment as the boy imitated how Anthony walked. We wandered the majority of the town for about a half an hour, and then bought our tickets to Maisan Provincial Park. The minimalist style of the ticket was reflective of the town that we bought it in.
Mt Mai is Jinan's glory. There were photographs on the menus and a mural on the wall of the bus station. I immediately fell in love with the mountain mural. We looked one last time before we took the bus, and continued our journey, which indeed was a long journey. We hiked the afternoon and evening away. I have never felt more clensed in my life. We found nice resting points to hold in the clensing effect, and to well, rest. These pergolas every so often were nice places to take a breather, and laugh at the redness of one another's cheeks.
